Hornet flinched at thought of his poor older brothers having been reprogrammed. Oh no, Maker forbid that happen to them. If they not only had to save them but possibly do what Mega Man had to whenever his siblings’ programs were hijacked— none of them would want to face that possibility, even if there was the real enough chance that they’d have to. Lightbots against Lightbots would be another one of Wily’s predictably cruel tactics.

“P-please, calm down! We have to get them back now whatever has happened, a-and we have to s-stay calm if we’re going to do it sh-shorthanded. W-we can’t just charge in there full of e-emotion now. We have to be careful, or w-we could lose a-another one of us.”

Hornet looked up as Fire answered the door, revealing the unfamiliar robot. Another one here? No doubt here to convince Star to return, as he was soon proved right on. But something about the way he spoke and carried himself. He wasn’t demanding or forceful at all, and Hornet bit his lip as he considered for a moment whether or not he was right to say anything when his elder brothers were more in charge of this than he was. “Uhm, of course… He’s y-your brother. I know that…. well, if I were in y-your place, I’d want to be able to talk t-to my own brothers.” He wished he could to a few of them already, but they’d have to rescue them first. Crystal didn’t seem like he was going to try anything underhanded.

He sighed… Damn, he really loved his brothers, and it hurts him to betray them….

It was so difficult…

“It’s….not like I don’t want to… But, Crystal, listen to me. I can’t go back. I’ve promised Ice that I’ll help to save time! And now we have to save ice, too. Because of Wily…”
Wily… he wasn’t sure that to think about him. Should he take it? Should he hate him?

“Damn… I can’t go back… Do you know, why I left?”

Elec trembled, gritting his teeth.  He was getting more frustrated with every second of delay.  ”I know y’mean well, Hornet, but this just can’t wait any longer!  Every second we waste is just ‘nother second Wily could be reprogrammin’ ‘em or rippin’ ‘em apart for parts!  You do care about your family, doncha?!”  Sparks formed on his fingertips—an involuntary reaction to his own emotions.

Greenish blue eyes glared at Crystal.  What if Wily had sent him to delay them?  He didn’t have time for this.  He trembled, glaring at Star as well.  Keeping slowing them down?  He couldn’t take this anymore!

So if their plan was going to fall apart, Elec was going to think on the fly and make a plan of his own.  He threw the door wide open with a stern look.  ”Y’all, I’ve waited far t’long.  You all can sit on yer hands all y’darn well please for all I’m concerned.  If yer gonna help us save Ice, Time, an’ Quint, you’ll follow us.  Ifn’ ya ain’t, may the Maker have mercy on your robotic soul…”  He then glanced to Fire.  ”Fire, let’s go.  Let them decide if they truly give a damn, or if they’re just claimin’ to.”

With that, he set foot out the door to storm off, his eyes sparking with the maelstrom of stormy frustration he had.

Crystal Man nodded. Star Man made a promise and… he can’t make him break it.

“I understand. You have friends to save. And I…”

Unfortunately, there isn’t much time to talk. Elec Man decided to run out and it seems he won’t slow down for anyone. But time is running out. Crystal Man was silent for a short moment before he spoke up.

“… Go, Star. Go after them. Before it is too late. I will catch up and meet you at the fortress soon. Just know that I still love you. You are not a traitor to me. And if you ever need to speak with me… you may visit me at my shop.”

He gave his brother a sad smile hidden behind his mask.

Fire sighed a bit.  As sick of waiting as he was.. they had to try and keep their cool.  Something that just didn’t come easy for someone like Fire.  He was the type to just charge in and take names later if provoked enough.. easily done by something as simple as harming his family in any way, shape, or form.

“Hornet, I know.. but.. we can’t just sit ‘round, neither.  They need us..’n we’re gettin’ ‘em out.. today!  No.. we’re gettin’ ‘em out.. now!”

At least Elec understood how he felt.  Good old twin.. at least Fire hadn’t been the only one to think it.  But despite how angry he was about having to sit around and wait for so long.. even Elec kinda scared him a little when he snapped the way he had.

“E-Elec!”

Fire chased after his fraternal twin.  Elec had to calm down.. This was the sort of anger that always got Fire into trouble.  Elec didn’t need to share the same fate.
