“B-but I-I d-didn’t sa-ay w-we sh-should wa-ait..” Hornet’s voice trembled with nervousness at his brother’s frustrated tone so much that he could barely finish his sentence. He hadn’t meant it to come out that way. Had it? He tried to gather up his words into some coherent continuance, trying to explain that he just thought they should proceed as quickly and calmly as possible to make sure they weren’t caught by surprise, but then Elec went on and on and on. Until he finally asked it.
Hornet recoiled as if hurt when Elec asked if he cared about his family. “Wh-what..?” He gritted his teeth behind his mask, and heat swelled behind his face from his flustered processors. How could he think he didn’t care? Saving his brothers had been all he’d thought about since they were stolen away! How could he think that he wasn’t afraid of what Wily was probably doing to them at this very moment? He had been a victim of Wily’s shady promises himself! He bit back hard against his words and was glad Elec couldn’t see how… angry he was. He was angry, and he hated feeling that towards his brother. But at the same time he felt hurt and lost in frustration with all the stress that was already lingering around.
But he didn’t have time to say anything. Off Elec went, brash and bold, to save the missing Light numbers. There went Fire, too. Twins of like mind. The minute the were gone, and too late for it to matter, Hornet sputtered out, “That— That stupid hot-headed j… jerk! I d-didn’t mean it like that. Why’d he have to go and make a big— he’s just going to—!” He dropped his head and sighed, trying to hold back from the same high-emotions he had just warned against. It wouldn’t help, he knew that. He looked to Star and Crystal tiredly, and summoned the rest of his drones to hide away in his armor. “P-Please take care, Mr. Crystal. I’m sorry we had to meet when things are… such a mess. L-Let’s… let’s go, Star.” He took a deep breath in gesture and straightened upright, trying to ready himself for the task at hand. “We can’t let them get too far ahead all by themselves.” He started after his elder brothers, trying to close the gap and hoping Star would be quick in doing the same.
Oh no… They didn’t even know if Megaman REALLY had gone by himself, and now Elec was going enraged.
He looked at his brother with a sadly look on his face. “Thank you for worrying about me… I love all of you… I am sorry…”
Then he looked at hornet, nodded and followed Elec and Fire. He had a strange felling. He knew that there was no turning back now… It felt like starting with a space ship, but with a bitter taste.
After he got to fire and elec, he exhorted them to stay calm.
“If you rush into the fortress Wily will see where you are! We have to make up things before we go in there!”
Now, normally Elec was the calm, rational one. Except under extreme stress. And this was the most extreme stress he’d felt in his life. It had been a wonder he’d held his composure for so long as he’d held it, to be fair. Normally he’d have broken down from this kind of stress long before, though he had tried to hold together for his siblings at the time.
Elec’s feet continued pounding the ground heavily. He couldn’t think right now; his judgment was clouded by a mixture of frustration, worry, and just plain hot-headed rage. In hindsight, had he been in his right mind, he probably would have thought before he spoke, let alone stormed out. This just wasn’t his right mind. Not right now.
“NO TIME!” Elec growled, glancing back toward Fire. The glance had been enough to take his eyes off the path long enough for him to trip. To slow him down. To make him scream in a mixture of frustration at himself and frustration that there had been something in his way in general. ”…DAMN IT!” Here, he slammed his fist into the ground, his face red and heated, and what looked to be tears in his eyes. ”DAMN IT! DAMN IT! DAMN IT!”
Hopefully he’d soon calm down. What was left of their old plan depended on it.
Crystal Man nodded to Hornet Man. “Thank you. I am sorry as well.”
He then looked back at Star Man before they left.
“Of course… I always worry about you and others. And it is fine, Star.”
Crystal Man stood for a moment as they ran ahead before running himself. Since he is slower than those four, it’ll take a bit longer for him to catch up.
“I must hurry as well. They need my help.”
Fire chased after his brother, doing his best to keep up with the guys stomping. “Elec! I know we gotta save ‘em now, but…” Man, Elec was scary when he was angry like this.. He trailed behind his brother silently, maybe in hopes that a little silence would calm the guy down a little.
…Wrong. Figures everyone would be chasing after them now of all times. Fire stayed quiet, glancing back to Elec as the other tripped and fell. “Elec!”
Fire rushed over to his brother, crouching down beside him and pulling him close. “Elec.. I know. yer mad.. ‘n I’m mad t’.. but we ain’t gonna survive the rescue mission ‘r plain get captured ourselves if we continue on like this… It’s alrigh’, Elec.. It’s alrigh’..”
